Introduce Yourself

Hi my name is Aoife Kilcullen I am a 22 year old singer from Ballina, Co. Mayo. I am a classically trained singer and have studied under the tuition of Ms. Grainne Conroy. I also play piano. I am currently a fourth year Student, studying Applied music in Dundalk Institute of Technology. I am specialising in solo performance. I was educated in St. Mary’s Secondary School Ballina. My love of music developed through my participation in the school choir, whose achievements include winning two consecutive years at the Kiltimagh Choral Festival. The School which is well known for its Musicals is where I achieved leading roles in both “Mama Mia” and “Phantom of the Opera”. I am well known as one of the Soloists in my local church, St. Muredach’s Cathedral, performing in all types of Ceremonies, and was one of the main performers in the Cathedral Restoration Fund Concert in 2015. In 2016 I won the “Mayo’s Got Talent” competition.

What is this blog about?

• For this blog I hope to share my musical journey thus far and update you on things to come in the future.
• I will also be sharing music i have recorded as well as pictures.

Awards and achievements:

• Achieved grades in singing.
• Senior cert achieved in Music theory
• Up to Grade 6 achieved in piano.
• Sang with college choir on TV alongside Daniel O’Donnell. 2018
• Sang with the college choir with beyond the music concert ‘The Joshua Tree’. 2019
• Faith camp leader in charge of music department. 2019
• Sang as an extra in the film ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’

• I have aquired different performance skills in genres such as classical, Irish traditional and contemporary music due to my performance studies in college.
• I have acquired theatrical and performance skills though singing locally, Mayo Youth Theatre and studying music in college.
